Future Works

We had hoped to publish G. H. Soole’s Canadian Pacific Railway 1934-1936 in 2004 but we have had difficulties obtaining the photographs. This would have followed on from our previous work on C. R. Littlebury’s photographs. Soole was a professional railwayman, working for the Great Western Railway in England and made two trips to Canada to photograph the Canadian Pacific Railway. Many of his shots have been used in previous BRMNA works and we are considering a book devoted entirely to Soole’s shots. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a reasonable agreement with the National Railway Museum in York, England which holds some of Soole's negatives. We are now looking for other sources of shots. Soole's sister in law bequeathed negatives to Canada when she died.

Peter Lacey is currently researching Canadian Pacific's line from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay and we hope to publish his work in the not too distant future.
Fred Headon is working on The Railways of Winnipeg (Volume One) and Darcy Furlonger is looking at CP around the north shore of Lake Superior

If anyone would like to cover the railways of a Canadian city, could they please contact me (Donald Bain) at BRMNA so that we can discuss the matter. Vancouver is one city which springs to mind and Winnipeg and Ottawa also cry out to be looked at in detail. We are always looking for new topics and new authors. Our aim is eventually to cover the entire Canadian railway scene. If you are a budding author with a Canadian Railway work bursting to get published, please contact BRMNA
